Czech promising politician accused of sexual accusation

Dominik Feri

Dominik Feri, the Czech Republic's youngest Member of Parliament, was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 2017 at the age of 21. Feri has long been popularising politics, especially among young people. He has almost a million followers on his Instagram profile. under the name "Choco afro”, his popularity increased mostly during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he summarised the news into simple bullet points.

That is the reason why they are so popular. Often only a sentence that describes the current situation or informs about a new measure. Many people say that Dominik's profile is a source and without it they would not know what is happening in our country.

He was supposed to run in the autumn election with the political party "TOP09" as one of their main candidates in Prague. But everything has changed during this summer, when several women reported that Feri behaved sexually inappropriately toward them in the last five years. He acted like a sexual predator and insisted to have sex without women permission. The same behaviour was applied when he wanted the naked photos.


After numerous accusations, Dominik Feri resigned from parliament and decided not to participate in the October general election. Feri will defend himself against sexual assault allegations. He was accused of sexual assault by eight anonymous female students, while others claimed he made sexually abusive statements in public or demanded naked photos.


While most politicians, including his party colleagues, have welcomed his resignation, there were also some who questioned the credibility of the victims, suggesting the news was timed to coincide with the election campaign.


It is fascinating to follow the process of such a promising and successful politician. Just a few screenshots that show the online harassment serving as evidence, and his career is over. Furthermore, a rapidly changing opinion of the younger generation, which used to consider Feri as a role model.

    Hi Tereza. This "scandal" was a big surprise. I was relying on Feri's posts during the pandemic and these assaults were so saddening for me. It totally changed my view even though we cannot be sure if these reports were 100% true.

I would recommend the following platforms to everyone, which are closely related to the topic. As first a 2020 Czech documentary Caught in the Net (Czech: V síti) about sexual predators on the internet. Three adolescent actresses who use social media to pretend to be teenage girls are being contacted by sexual predators who try to entice them and send inappropriate pictures. The documentary dives into the formerly taboo subject of online sexual abuse. Statistics reveal that the situation is getting worse and worse every day, but awareness remains low.
